ABOUT ME

Through painting, bronze sculpture, and mixed media, my work examines where nature and emotion converge, with a particular focus on the equine form. Inspired by the strength, sensitivity, and quiet intelligence of horses, I explore their physical presence as well as the emotional connection they share with humans. Texture, form, and color are used as expressive tools to convey movement, character, and inner stillness. Each piece seeks to honor the horse not only as a powerful animal, but as a symbol of trust, partnership, and emotional depth—inviting viewers to experience both the sculptural form and the feeling it carries.emotion. With a distinctive style characterized by bold textures & vibrant colors, which invite viewers to connect with a specific emotion or feeling.

INFLUENCES AND INSPIRATIONS

My influences draw from both historic equine painters and modern artists whose work emphasizes emotional expression and personal vision. I am particularly inspired by George Stubbs and Edgar Degas, whose deep understanding of anatomy, movement, and observation set a foundation for how I approach the equine form. Stubbs’ scientific precision and respect for structure, paired with Degas’ expressive studies of motion and gesture, continue to shape my way of seeing. Alongside these influences, artists such as Frida Kahlo and Georgia O’Keeffe have encouraged a more intuitive and symbolic approach, pushing my work beyond representation toward emotional resonance. Together, these influences inform a practice that balances careful observation with intuition—honoring the physical presence of the horse while exploring its emotional and symbolic depth.

ARTISTIC BEGINNINGS

My artistic journey began at an early age, shaped by a lifelong love of horses and an instinctive desire to draw. I began riding and sketching horses as a child, spending countless hours observing their movement, structure, and temperament. Largely self-taught, I developed my skills through careful observation and consistent practice, guided by principles rooted in Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. Growing up in an artistic family further nurtured this creative foundation, encouraging curiosity, discipline, and a deep respect for visual expression. These early experiences continue to inform my work today, grounding it in observation, connection, and an enduring fascination with the equine form.

MY CREATIVE PROCESS

My process is rooted in careful observation and complete familiarity with the horse’s form, developed through years of hands-on experience. Groundwork, feeding, cleaning, grooming, riding, and showing have allowed me to understand the horse not only as a subject, but as a living presence with weight, rhythm, and temperament. This daily interaction informs how I see structure, movement, and balance. Whether working in paint, bronze, or mixed media, I translate this embodied knowledge into form—allowing physical experience and observation to guide each piece from its earliest stages through completion.

MY PHILOSOPHY

Shaped by a lifelong connection to horses, my work translates observation, experience, and emotion into painting, bronze sculpture, and mixed media.
